Orpheum Children's Science Museum Space Exhibition

Orpheum Children’s Science Museum Space Exhibition

I worked with another graphic design student, Emmaline Fleener, and alongside with two teams of mechanical engineering students from the University of Illinois to create graphic design implements to go along with two new museum exhibits for the Orpheum Children’s Science Museum in downtown Champaign. The Orpheum Childrens's Science Museum to help create posters, wall vinyl, and any other needs the exhibits have. The exhibits focus on mass/weight on Earth and space using a robot claw, and on launching a rocket into space. For each of the exhibits, we will be creative signage and large vinyl illustrated wraps, as well as working on typography to help explain the purpose of the exhibits.

This was an 8-week independent study, with the project being due on April 21 and being implemented on April 28 for a launch party at the Orpheum Museum. We created a successful timeline and schedule for a project. Each week we spent a lot of time sketching, designing, and meeting with mechanical engineer students. We have created successful designs to be used in an actual real-life museum and learned to work on a team, as well as work with a client.

PROCESS

I start drawing a basic rough sketch of some objects by hand based off from the meetings we had for two different teams. Of course, we had to some research of how we wanted to create a new identity for Orphy, as well as how each mineral looks like.
